Commerce Protective has been insuring truckers since 1990. CPIC was officially incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania in September of that year.

Founder, Robert L. Klippel, has been in the insurance industry since the 1960’s and always specialized in underwriting policies for the trucking industry. Additionally, he worked closely with the PA State Insurance Commissioner as the Operations Manager for the Bureau of Liquidations.

In 1990, Robert saw a need in the marketplace for an insurance company that focused solely on the trucking industry. The risks of this industry are diverse and complex and therefore deserve the attention of a focused insurer. This was the start of Commerce Protective Insurance Company.

Prior to 2005, Commerce Protective operated exclusively in Pennsylvania. Subsequently, we have expanded into Delaware, Mississippi, West Virginia, Montana, and Nevada. Commerce Protective is now recognized as the preferred trucking insurer in these states.

We have developed an underwriting staff that is well trained and educated about the trucking business. This enables us to assist you with all of your underwriting needs and questions throughout the underwriting process.
